Descriptive statistics, frequency distributions and graphical presentation of data. Measures of central tendency: mean, median, mode, etc. Measures of dispersion: range, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, skewness, kurtosis. Measures of position; quartiles, deciles and percentiles. Simple correlation and regression. Index number. Probability: sample space and events, independent and mutually exclusive events, axioms of probability, marginal and conditional probability, Bayes' theorem, additional and multiplication rules, tree diagrams. Random variables, joint probability functions, bivariate distributions, marginal and conditional distributions, distribution functions. Mathematical expectation and moments of probability distributions, Chebyshev's inequality, moment generating functions. Implementation of concepts and computations via calculators and spreadsheets.
