2.14407 PATIENT ASSESSMENT

This is one of the core clinical specialties for Emergency, Intensive Care and Operating Theatre Nursing groups. The course aims to provide students with a theoretical and practical framework to physically conduct patient assessment in the clinical area. The course enables students to gain an understanding of the developmental principles underlying patient assessment and techniques appropriate to the management of neonates, infants, toddlers, and preschool, school age, adolescent, adult (eg. childbearing age) and geriatric. Particular emphasis is given to the collaborative role of the nursing personnel in the primary, secondary and definitive assessment, management and interventions where applicable with medical personnel, paramedics and/or alone in any clinical setting in a developing country
