2.14408 INFECTION PREVENTION & CONTROL

The course is offered to on-campus students enrolled in the Acute Care Strand of the Bachelor of Clinical Nursing program and off campus students though flexible delivery mode or distance education. The course is divided into four units, pertaining to Applied Microbiology, Infection Prevention, Infection Control and the Clinical Practice. The main purpose of the course is to expand the mid- level health care workers knowledge and skills in prevention and control of Health Care Facility and Community Acquired Infections. In addition, the course examines the impact of the current Infection Prevention and Control policy Guidelines, Standards of Patient Care and the Public Hospital policy on the health care facilities, patients/clients and the health care workers.
