The course aims to expand students’ knowledge and skills in the management of women in labour and provision of post-partum care at all levels of health care facilities. The major topics discussed include the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, signs and symptoms of normal and difficult labour, care of the mother in labour, during and after delivery, care of unborn baby during labour and after delivery, vital observations for the mother and baby, drugs used during labour and post partum care, management and prevention of complication and common complications during labour and post partum care
