2.14417 BIOLOGICAL & BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES

Biological & Biomedical Sciences is a core clinical specialty for the Emergency, Intensive Care and Operating Theatre nursing groups. The course provides students with a theoretical and practical framework regarding, the biological [human] structure and its functions in a 'wellness and illness' state of health. The course enables students to gain an insight of the developmental principles underlying normal physiological aspects of body homeostasis in relation to drug administration and malfunction of body systems due to pathophysiology. Particular emphasis is given to the collaborative role of the biomedical equipments with respect to nursing care management of the patient in a PNG clinical setting.
