2.14419 PRINCIPLES & PRACTICE OF INTENSIVE CARE NURSING

The main purpose of this course is to provide students with a theoretical and practical framework which to effectively and proficiently perform critical nursing management with advanced technology in the high dependency and intensive care unit. The course enables students to gain an in-depth understanding of the developmental principles underlying intensive care related issues and rationale for providing assisted technologies where required. Particular emphasis is given to the collaborative role of the nursing, medical personnel and paramedics in intensive care unit (ICU) within developing countries like PNG.
