2.14506 EDUCATIONAL PLANNING & ADMINISTRATION

The course aims to prepare students with management and leadership capabilities to administer Schools of Nursing competently. The topics include the global and national trends in educational planning and administration, management theories and concepts applied to educational settings, models and process of educational planning and budgeting. In addition, it explores management of changes and educational projects and programs, organisational structure and functions of HRM Branch of the National Department of Health and nursing schools. Further explored are the roles and responsibilities of the Nursing Council, Medical Board and the Churches Medical Council, the Office of Higher Education's policies on rationalisation, accreditation and affiliation of nursing schools with tertiary institutions, students selection and administration procedures (National Scholarship Scheme), coordination of educational programs, designing and development of academic and clinical master plans. The course also explores the management of school facilities and resources, including the establishment and maintenance of management information system of educational administration.
