2.14509 FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS & CONCEPTS IN PATIENT CARE
This course aims to expand students’ cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills in managing patient care as members of the health care team in a hospital and community health setting. This includes the application of problem solving approaches and nursing process to provide holistic patient care. The topics include patient assessment (basic human needs), theories and models of nursing and patient care, team nursing, emergency techniques, patient teaching, safe custody of patients’ records/nursing notes and properties including dangerous drugs, therapeutic environment and communication amongst health care team members, including documentation and communication of patients' progressive reports, reinforcement of ethical principles for patient care and legal implications of nursing practices.
