2.14518 COMMUNITY HEALTH & NUTRITION
This course prepares students with appropriate knowledge and skills to conduct nutritional status surveys and assessment of individuals, families and communities and manage diseases associated with nutrition and diet and cultural taboos. The topics examined include the concepts of food and nutrition, human nutritional needs, including calories, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals and vitamins, common dietary minerals, nutritional standards and policies, the food pyramid, nutritional labelling, nutritional patterns and practices, management of problems associated with nutrition in the communities and common hospital diets and strategies for Health education and promotion.
