2.24906 PHARMACY MANAGEMENT

The aim of the course is to enable the students to understand the principles of management and their application to the practice of pharmacy in PNG. The course is designed to encourage students to learn how to equip themselves with the understanding, attitudes and skills required for a successful relationship in today's pharmacy practice. Some of the skills basic to participation in the organization are: a sufficient understanding of the general principles of management; a sufficient understanding of management of medical supplies; a sufficient understanding of management of PNG health services; an understanding of financial management; the ability to articulate ideas, opinions and feelings, and to contribute positively to group activity; the ability to interpret and evaluate information so that problems identified in particular situations can be resolved (partially or wholly) by reasonable solutions; and the ability to appreciate the opinion of others so that the individual may function effectively-as an organisational member.

Contact hours: 4 hours per week (3 hours lecture, 1 hour tutorial).

Assessment: Tests, assignments (60%), final exam (40%).
