2.29801 DENTAL & HEALTH SCIENCES I
The course is taught by the disciplines of Dental Therapy, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology. It introduces the students to basic concepts in anatomy, physiology, general pathology and microbiology, which would be useful in the practice of clinical dentistry. The basic concepts in oral anatomy and practical classes are taught by the Dental Therapy discipline. The anatomy of the systems is taught by the Anatomy discipline. The physiology of the system of the body is taught by the Physiology discipline, which also conducts practical classes. Cell inflammation neoplasia process of repair is taught by the pathology discipline. Bacteria and viruses, their classification and mode of infection, are taught by the Microbiology discipline. Basic Immunology and Immunology of the Oral Cavity are taught by the Immunology discipline.
Contact hours: 11 hours per week, 3 hours practical per week.
Assessment: Continuous and assignments (60%), final exam (40%).
