2.29802 COMMUNITY ORAL HEALTH I

This course enables students to learn how to impart oral health education both at chair-side and in the community and know the importance of diet and nutrition and occupation safety at the work place and also understanding the demography of health in PNG and also the epidemiology of dental caries, periodontal disease and oral cancer and know how to control these diseases in the community. The students conduct a socio-dental survey and analyse the data statistically and also became aware of clinical preventive dentistry such as the use of fissure sealant in the prevention of dental caries.

Contact hours: 2 hours per week x 26 weeks

Assessment: Continuous and assignments (60%), final exam (40%).
