2.29803 APPLIED CLINICAL DENTAL PRACTICE I

The course begins by familiarising the student with the main technical feature of dental equipment. The students learn about structure of the teeth and care of teeth and learn to carve models of teeth in soap and plaster, the different types of carious cavities observed in teeth and how to fill them on a phantom head, how to give an injection and perform an extraction of a tooth, how to scale and polish teeth on a phantom head, and also learn to take dental X-rays and develop them and make a diagnosis with the help of X-rays on a phantom head. This course has a large practical component.

Contact hours: 6 hours per week x 26 weeks, 9 hours practicals per week x 30 weeks.

Assessment: Continuous assignments (60%), final exam (40%).
