2.29804 DENTAL & HEALTH SCIENCE I
This course continues throughout the year, and aims to provide theoretical knowledge and practical instruction in general and oral anatomy, general and oral physiology and biochemistry, and in general and oral pathology and microbiology. It is designed to provide the student initially with a general understanding of the structure, function and potential for disease and deformity in the human body. It also considers the nature of the defence mechanisms against infection, the mechanism for tissue development to take place, principles of tissue repair, and provides an insight in the theory of infection control in clinical practice.
Course hours: Six hours per week
Assessment: Continuous 60%, Final exam 40%
