2.29903 MEDICAL SCIENCE I
This course is covered in semester one of year two. The course covers human anatomy and physiology. Specifically, the course covers the skeletal system and the related anatomy. Students get to learn the bones that make up the skeletal system, the role of each bone, the mechanics of joints that enable body motion, bone compoition etc. In addition, the GI Tract and the urinary systems are also covered giving students comprehensive anatomical knowledge to apply in radiologic imaging. Students also continue to learn the skills for researching specific information as well as developing communication skills. Students also learn how to correlate the learnt anatomy to anatomy portrayed on actual radiographs and scans. Essential radiographic pathology relating to the body systems covered is also taught.
Contact hours: 6 hours per week (2 lecturers, 2 tutorials, 2 lab sessions)
Assessment: Tests, assignment, Presentations (60%), final exam (40%).
Prerequisite: SFY.
