2.34902 PHARMACOLOGY

The course aims to enable students acquire knowledge of the principles of pharmacology and their application for the cure, control, prevention and diagnosis of diseases. Topics include the following: Sem 1: General/Basic Principles of Pharmacology; Systemic Pharmacology; Cardio-Vascular System (C.V.S.); Renal Pharmacology; and Analgesics, Antiepileptics/Anticonvulsants; Sem 2: Autacoids-Immuno Pharmacology; Respiratory Pharmacology; Gastro-Intestinal Tract (G.I.T.) Pharmacology; Blood & Blood Forming Organs; Endocrine Pharmacology; Reproductive Pharmacology; and General Principles of Chemotherapy.

Contact hours: 6 hours (3 hrs lecture/tutorials and 3 hrs practical per week

Assessment: Sem-end Tests, Assignments (60%), final exam (40%).
