2.39901 MEDICAL RADIATION IMAGING 3
This course is taught in the first semester of year three. In this course organ systems are studied in relation to contrast examinations. Subjects covered in this course include, the GI System, urinary system, salivary glands, lumbar puncture (myelography) and hysterosalpingography (HSG). The students get to learn the imaging techniques and the film series required to best show contrast demonstration of the organ systems studied. Students also learn the different types of contrast media available for clinical use and their adverse effects on the human body. With that, students also continue to develop communication, information searching and film critique skills. At the end of the course students should be able to demonstrate the skills during clinical practice and to build the confidence in assisting or performing these examinations.
Contact hours: 6 hours per week (2 lectures, lab practicals).
Assessment: Tests, case studies, assignments, (60%), Final exam (40%)
