2.44805 LABORATORY MANAGEMENT & QUALITY ASSURANCE
This course is conducted by the Discipline of Medical Laboratory Science.
This course covers the main aspects of medical laboratory management and quality assurance in order to be a quality manager. Students are taught the following topics: laboratory safety covering, stock management, procurement procedures, fixed asset register, installation of fixed assets, and strategies in preventative maintenance, consignment of biological and temperature sensitive substances, quality control and personnel management.
Contact hours: 4 hours per week (3 lectures, 1 tutorial)
Assessment: Course work (tests, assignments, project) 60%, Final examination (theory & practice) 40%.
