3.30805 MANAGEMENT OF CHANGE

The concepts and principles of "Managing Change in Organisations" form the basis of this course. Organisations continual change, and changes occur in response to a host of factors including but not limited to market shifts, competitive pressures, radical new technologies, or as a result of an internal need to improve existing methods and practices. Changes do affect people and their relationships in organisations and can have profound social consequences. Students are introduced to some of these issues, as well as the process of managing change and its impact on the strategic direction of the organisation, and the major trends shaping change in organisations, namely, globalisation, information technology and managerial innovation. This course also explores the cultural and structural differences of organisations in different parts of the world and how these forces can influence change. On completion, students should be able to understand the basic concepts and principles behind the process of managing chang

e; understand and explain the issues and rationales for managing changes in organisations; appreciate the influence of social, cultural, and technological forces behind the change management process; and be able to synthesise this principles with practical considerations surrounding change management processes.
