This course covers the history of the criminal legislation of PNG its interpretation, and other introductory matters such as the role of custom as a component of the underlying law as an introduction and a detailed study of the general principles of criminal responsibility in Papua New Guinea, with particular reference to the Criminal Code and the defences under the Criminal Code. It also gives a detailed study of the main criminal offences in Papua New Guinea. These include: homicide, sexual offences, property offences, and drug offences. The issue of criminal attempt is also examined.
