7.62361 PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES I & II
(Year long = 26 weeks)
This course introduces students to current issues in international and PNG tropical public
health through an analysis of the biological, ecological, social, behavioural, cultural,
political, and economic contexts that determine both health and the disease burden of the
human populations. The course focuses on the top ten public health problems of PNG and makes
students aware from the outset their importance and to stimulate students’ thought in the
direction of proper, better and feasible control and eradication strategies.
