Sections within The Open College
The Open College is home to more than 140 staff working at the headquarters at UPNG, Waigani Campus, the Regional Open Campuses and the uni centers throughout the country. With well-qualified staff both at the headquarters and study centers, our staff are able to use their varied skills, knowledge and experience to deliver high quality distance learning experience to our students. Each of the staff work under one of the three sections whether at the head office or in the study centers.
PROGRAMS & PRODUCTION (P&P)
The Programs and Production Division is made of three sub sections (Course Development, Multimedia and Production/Dispatch units). The section is responsible for the design, development, production and dispatch of the course materials of programs offered at the Open College.
The Course Development Unit is made up of Instructional Designers and Text Processors who convert and format texts into the ones that you see and read. Open College has also adopted internationally proven models for distance learning course design, which Instructional Designers use to design and develop courses with academics in various faculties and disciplines in the schools.
The Multimedia and Production/Dispatch unit provide support in the area of multimedia and production and dispatch of the course materials to students. The Programs and Production provides the thrust of the development and production of academic programs for delivery in the ODL mode.
