The University Library has two units such as “Michael Somare Library at Waigani campus and the Medical School Library at the Taurama Campus Library”. They provide information resources in various disciplines i.e. “Law, Business Management, Physical and Natural Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, Humanities and social sciences”.
The library holds 214,342 book titles in print and also, a total of 14,300 electronic journal titles are accessible through the following databases, “Hinari - for biomedical and health science journals; Oare- for Environmental science journals; and Agora - for Food and Agricultural journals”. Over the years the library has subscribed to 6556 print titles.
Now, there are about 300 current titles. Print journals are under review taking into consideration, the increase in electronic journals.The library has a wealth of information in its special collection consisting of Papua New Guinea materials without any limitation to subject, format, or year of publication. Included in are thesis / dissertations of the University scholars.

The library organises exhibitions and displays featuring current events and topics of public interest in partnership with other institutions e.g. Human rights, Waigani Seminar, Embassies, UN. etc. Occasionally, the library conducts workshops and conferences for either library staff or in Association with other libraries.
