This course provides a study of the basic concepts of industrial relations including study of: various theoretical approaches to industrial relations; historical development of labour history; the roles and objectives of trade unions, employers/management and the state, as the three major players in the industrial relations system; the collective bargaining process; the disciplinary procedures and grievance process; the conciliations and the arbitration process and the pivotal role of HR functions in creating a harmonious work environment conducive to improved productivity and business success for all stakeholders.
