This course looks at ways and means of advancing credit to many economic entities that would otherwise not successfully access the established financial intermediaries for credit and other secondary securities.

The basis for this financial service, and the institutions that are involved and their reasons for doing so are first outlined by reviews of the existence of micro finance and banking services, their success and pitfalls on the context of their initial objects in countries that have these services.

The focus is on households but the role of the various non-household units is also discussed.
