The course objective is to provide students with a strong conceptual and analytical framework for understanding the operation of markets and the behaviour of consumers and producers. The course will cover many of the microeconomic principles you have learnt previously using robust mathematical techniques. This course introduces at the intermediate level the theory of the firm in a competitive and imperfectly competitive setting, introduction to game theory, factor markets, general equilibrium theory, welfare economics and the limits to markets.
