Basic and clinical science concepts are intrinsic to the Patient and Community problems. Assessment will be primarily by written instruments (papers). The first trimester P&C problems serve as an introduction to problems affecting children and adults, to the organ systems and to a number of important disease processes.
The concepts, in both basic and clinical sciences, will be revisited and extended over the next 4 years, allowing students to learn in a progressive fashion. In Block 2, problems affecting the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts will be considered; in Block 3, the problems relate to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
