The course aims to ensure students are able to understand a range of quantitative techniqes and their application in the analysis and interpretation of accounting & related data, use statistical and graphical means to display the results of such analyses, or to present financial and related data in a manner which is understandable to accountants and non-accountants, and to formulate a problem in mathematical terms and, having solved the problem, be able to intepret the results. Topics include an introduction to quantitative analysis, probability and decision-making, decision trees, statistical inference, hypotheses testing, correlatiom and regression analyses, time series analysis, investment appraisals.
