The objective of the course is to ensure students are able to understand a range of quantitative techniques and their application in the analysis and interpretation of accounting and related data by using statistical and graphical means to display the results of such analyses, or to present financial and related data in a manner which is understandable to accountants or non accountants and to formulate a problem in mathematical terms, and having solved the problem, be able to interpret the results.

Topics include uncertainty and capital rationing, replacement analysis, operation research techniques, linear programming, transportation and assignment problems, network analysis, inventory planning and control, simulation, and queuing theory.
